BARNZ is the respected and trusted voice of the airline industry in New Zealand. We work closely with the Government, regulators, businesses and local communities to provide cost savings and service improvements for our airline members; and to create an environment that fosters continued, sustainable growth for them in New Zealand.
BARNZ is an incorporated society - this means we deliver to our constitutional purposes, which is to reduce costs and improve outcomes for our members. BARNZ consists of an executive team reporting to a Board of member airlines.
What We Do:

Drive for sustainable aviation growth for airlines operating to, from and within New Zealand.

OUR KEY FOCUS AREAS
At BARNZ, our work is driven by a commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for our airline members and the wider aviation industry. Our efforts are concentrated across three key areas:
POLICY
BARNZ advocates for members on a range of issues including proposed changes to legislation impacting the airline sector including safety, security, economic and environmental settings.
We maintain close relationships with government officials in transport, tourism, customs and biosecurity agencies, ensuring BARNZ members are able to inform policy development.
PRICING
BARNZ represents its members in regulated price processes for Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch airports. We also represent airline members in price consultation for prices set by government agencies, border services, Civil Aviation levies and air traffic control charges.
BARNZ works to ensure the costs airlines and customers pay are necessary, efficient, justified and represent value for money.
OPERATIONS
BARNZ works with major airports and other service providers to ensure streamlined and efficient operations and service improvements for airlines with resulting facilitation benefits for the travelling public.
We also provide our members with access to a valuable alternate landing option, at the Ohakea air base, to support operational flexibility, cost-efficiency and associated carbon emission reductions.
